Effective September 6, 2026
Surface does not upload your photographs to the developer or use them for tracking. There are no analytics, ads, third-party tracking SDKs, Surface accounts, or Surface photo servers. Apple services and feedback you choose to send are described below.
What the app accesses
- Camera — to compose and take photographs.
- Photo Library — to save captures to a Surface Camera album and let you view, import, edit, share, remove, or delete them. Photographs leave your device only through iCloud Photos or sharing actions you choose, both handled by Apple and the destination you select.
- Location, optional — to place GPS coordinates into a photograph’s metadata, like a traditional camera. The developer does not receive those coordinates. When you view photo information, the app may send coordinates to Apple’s location services to resolve a place name. You can also open that location in Apple Maps.
On-device processing
Film rendering, blur, light leaks, and editing happen on your iPhone. Apple Photos manages your library; fetching iCloud originals and resolving location names can use Apple services. Surface does not upload photographs for processing and does not operate a photo-processing backend.
Analytics and tracking
None. Surface contains no analytics framework, advertising SDK, usage tracker, or cross-app tracking technology.
Purchases
Apple handles subscriptions and purchases through the App Store. We do not receive your payment details. Apple’s handling of purchase information is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Optional feedback
If you submit the feedback form, we receive your email address, category, and message. Direct support email also includes the sender, subject, and message you provide. Cloudflare handles delivery to [email protected], which forwards to the developer’s Gmail inbox. Feedback is recorded in a private Google Sheet with a received time, channel, category, contact email, message, and follow-up status. Google processes the inbox and Sheet data as our service provider. We use this information to read, organize, and respond to support requests and improve Surface. It is not used for advertising or sold. Do not include passwords, private photographs, or other sensitive information.
Website
This marketing site is hosted on Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes technical request information, such as IP addresses and HTTP headers, to deliver and protect the site. We do not add analytics, advertising cookies, or third-party font requests. The feedback form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to distinguish visitors from bots, along with a hidden spam-trap field, request limits, and server-side validation. Cloudflare processes browser signals and the requesting IP address for this security check. These signals are not added to the feedback Sheet.
Your feedback and privacy requests
Feedback remains in the private support inbox and tracking Sheet until it is deleted. To request access, correction, or deletion of feedback you sent, contact [email protected]. Include enough detail to identify your request. Copies may remain in provider backups according to their retention practices.
Children
Surface does not require an account or collect personal information during ordinary camera use. The support form is not intended for children to submit personal information. If a child has sent personal information to support, contact us so we can address it.
Changes
If this policy changes, this page and its effective date will be updated.
